Car Headlight Sensor System
Many vehicles today come equipped with automatic headlights to eliminate the need for drivers to manually turn on their headlights. This becomes very important during dusk/dawn, night, and during bad weather conditions.
The primary sensor that allows this to function smoothly is found within the windshield. The sensor automatically detects how much light there is and then turns on or off the headlights accordingly.

Does A Chipped Windshield Effect My Light Sensor?
As long as your chipped windshield can be fixed, you won't need a new light sensor. However, if the chip is too big to be fixed, then the windshield will need to be replaced.
The new windshield will need to have a new light sensor built-in and re-calibrated so that everything continues to operate normally. It is important to have certified specialists replace your windshield as poor installations can negatively effect the safety features from operating properly.
